Embracing Accusation

Sorry I haven’t posted in so long. It has been a whirwind summer. I was reminded of this song today and just had to share it. Most of you have probably heard it by now, but perhaps someone will see this and hear it for the first time. I am a HUGE Shane and Shane fan, but regardless of that, I believe this to be one of the most powerful songs ever written. I had the amazing opportunity to hear this at a convention before it was even released on CD. I remember the feeling of awe that came upon me as the song ended…and it really had nothing to do with Shane and Shane, even though there are few that can voice a song like they can! It had everything to do with who God is, and what He has done through Christ; that I have been made the righteousness of God through Him! So, I hope you will

It’s a boy!

We found out the big news this morning! I really thought I would have like 8 girls and never have a boy. I am really excited, though…now just have to come up with a name! We were all set with a couple girls’ names that we like, but we still haven’t settled on a boy name yet. It will come, though. So, please begin praying for both momma and baby boy! Some Recent Emma Videos

Here are some recent videos we have taken of Emma. She is so fun to watch grown and learn! She is so smart, and has such an incredible memory…but then again, I’m sure every parent says that! Anyway, here is one of her reciting some of the story of Daniel that her Mommy taught her a couple of days ago… In case you need an interpretation, The King said, “Daniel, did your God save you?” And Daniel replied, “Not even a scratch!” Here are some of Emma singing her favorite songs… I will hopefully have some more really soon. There are a couple of things that we really want to video, so we will get to it very shortly! Original Post found at http://www.momentumblog-jason.blogspot.com. Snow Day!

We had about 6 inches of snow that fell last night here in Roxboro. I really can’t remember the last time we’ve seen a good snow like this. We have had 2 or 3 inches here and there, but it’s been a while since one like this. Not too much and not too little that you can’t build a snow man. And, speaking of snowmen, Emma would like to show you her “toeman” as she calls it. She’s so proud of it…but, by the end of the video, well, you’ll see! The God who gives and takes away

Erin and I got in the car this morning with mixed emotions. At least that was the case for me. I was nervous, anxious and a little scared. As I turned the key to start the car, the radio turned on and I found myself listening to a familiar song…one of my favorites, actually. As the singer sang “Blessed Be Your Name,” he was into the second verse, which I know by heart. “Blessed be Your name, when the road is marked with suffering, though there’s pain in the offering, blessed by Your name.” It was in that moment that I knew God was speaking to me. Somehow, though I couldn’t be 100% sure, I seemed to know that Erin and I were about to hear some really tough news.A week ago, Erin began to experience some things that caused us to worry about her pregnancy. After speaking with her doctor, she advised us to come in and let her

Saying goodbye to Papaw Engle

As I stated at my Grandfather’s (Orville Engle) funeral this past weekend, I wish I had known him as a friend, or as a coach, or as a teacher. From all I have heard, he was quite a guy. I was honored by my father when he asked me to share a eulogy and preach at his funeral. I found that when speaking of his life, I only could share my experiences with him as Papaw, because that’s who he was, and still is, to me. But, as I have learned, especially over the past few days, he was so many things to so many people. As people shared about their relationship with him, I kept hearing words like integrity and faithfulness. I shared with the congregation at the funeral that even though I have never read Tom Brokaw’s book, “The Greatest Generation,” I felt that my Papaw was the epitome of the person from which the spirit of that book

Thanksgiving

It is really hard for me to believe that Thanksgiving is already here this year. This year has just really flown by!! But, ready or not, it’s here. So, what are you thankful for this year? I wanted to just take a couple of moments and share 5 things that I am especially thankful for this year…1. The life and salvation I have in Jesus. I am thankful that while I was yet a sinner, Jesus died on the cross so that I could have redemption and hope. I am thankful that He went all the way for me. I am thankful for His willingness to do so. Without this, there would be nothing to be thankful for that has any eternal significance because all else will fade.2. My beautiful bride and daughter. I am a blessed man because of these two precious gifts that the Father has given me. I am thankful for a wife that loves me and

Friday Roundup (9/21)

1. Please be in prayer for Erin. She is very excited about the future, as she has decided to start her own business from home selling Arbonne products. Some very good friends of ours are a part of the company and have enjoyed it so far. As of now, Erin’s launch date is the last weekend in October. She will learn much more then, as well as have her first several classes that weekend. Erin really desires to be able to work from home so that she can be with Emma during the day…everyday…as much as possible. This will enable her to work during naptime and do classes at night. The last thing we are hoping to gain out of this is to get rich! We simply pray that this will enable Erin to do something that she enjoys, while simply helping us with what we need financially each month. So, we covet your prayers as Erin begins this new
